The City of Wood Village has been asked to voluntarily prohibit backyard burning to alleviate safety and health concerns and to make it easier to identify and stop illegal burning. If you live in Wood Village and would like to provide feedback on the potential burn ban, please review our current backyard burn practices and the proposed changes below.
Current City Practice
The City currently limits backyard burning of yard debris to:
- Ten (10) specific days in the spring (set by Gresham Fire & DEQ)

Proposed Changes
The City will not allow burning at any time of:
- Yard debris
Not Changing
The City will continue allowing (unless there is a red flag warning or high risk of fire):
- Backyard wood or charcoal BBQs and smokers
- Small-scale recreational fire pits or fire tables
The City will continue not allowing the burning at any time of:
- Man-made materials (e.g. rubber, plastic, garbage, and petroleum based materials)
