Putting a Stop to Car Theft

steering wheel locks free for kia & hyundai ownersCar theft, especially amongst Kia and Hyundai owners, has been trending upward in recent months in part to a TikTok social media challenge. Viral videos on the app demonstrated how to jumpstart certain Kia and Hyundai models using a USB. In response to these videos, both Kia and Hyundai have issued statements that vehicle owners for certain models are eligible for free security software upgrades.

In partnership with local law enforcement offices, both Kia and Hyundai are giving out free steering wheel locks to those interested. Lt. Hemsworth, the Chief of Police in Wood Village, reached out to the companies and received cases of the steering wheel locks in early September. For Kia and Hyundai owners who would like one, the steering wheel locks can be picked up starting Monday, September 11th at the Wood Village City Hall & Civic Center (24200 Northeast Halsey Street).

Please bring in an ID of your vehicle year and model or your vehicle registration. The steering wheel locks can be picked up at the front desk inside City Hall while supplies last.
