Put the “Cycle” in Recycle
Help Keep Bikes Out of Landfills
May is National Bike Month, and seeing the number of bikes at our annual Community Cleanup Day sparked an idea of finding bike “recyclers” and repair centers in the greater Portland region. These groups and non-profits in the Greater Portland region accept used bike donations (visit their pages/websites or call to find out current donation needs) and/or offer bike repair services. By repairing your bike, you help keep them out of landfills, and by donating, you help provide bikes to underserved individuals in our area.

Bikes for Humanity PDX
Bikes for Humanity (B4H) PDX is a non-profit bike shop and school located in SE Portland. Our mission is to increase public access to affordable and safe bicycles while empowering self-sufficiency in bicycle maintenance and commute.
Bike Farm is an all volunteer-run collective dedicated to every aspect of bicycle education, from safe commuting to repair. Our mission is to provide a space where people can learn about the bicycle and build community around promoting sustainable transportation. We strive to demystify the bicycle in order to impact the city in a healthy and positive way.
Community Cycling Center
We love Portland and bikes. So, we put our two loves together, creating a non-profit organization on a mission to broaden access to bicycling and its benefits. Our vision: to help build a vibrant community where people of all backgrounds use bicycles to stay healthy and connected. We believe that all Portlanders—regardless of income or background—should have the opportunity to experience the joy, freedom, and health benefits of bicycling. This is the motivation behind everything that we do.
We make bicyclists and bicycling better in Washington County – through education, encouragement, and advocacy.
We accomplish this mission through inclusive programs that:
- Promote bicycle transportation
- Protect bicyclists’ rights and
- Improve bicycling conditions
- Promote safe cycling
- Create lifelong cyclists
- Encourage recreational bicycling on appropriate streets and multi-use pathways
- Engage diverse populations
Repair PDX was formed in May 2013 to bring repair events to Portland residents. Repair Cafés are community events where volunteers fix people’s broken household items for free. If you can carry it in, we will do our best to fix it!
Repair Café son eventos comunitarios donde los voluntarios reparan artículos de casa gratis para personas. Si usted trae algo, nosotros haremos lo mejor para repararlo!
