About UpRiver Village
UpRiver Village is an all-volunteer organization that is currently being developed to serve seniors 55 and older in Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview and Wood Village.
Services
VOLUNTEER SUPPORT SERVICES
UpRiver Village volunteers will provide the following types of services AFTER MEMBERSHIP OPENS:
MEMBER SUPPORT
- Social, recreational, cultural and educational activities
- Driving/transportation (to doctors, social events).
- Computer Wiz-MAC
- Computer Wiz-PC
- Technological support (computers, phones, home electronics)
- Occasional housekeeping (house cleaning, trash removal)
- Grocery shopping
- Meal preparation/meal train
- Handyman services
- Organization (mail, decluttering, calendars, phone calls, appointments)
- Occasional yard and garden care (pick up leaves, watering, pruning, yard debris)
- Short term pet care (walking, changing litter box, feeding)
- Minor home maintenance and repairs (clear walkways, change light bulbs)
- Seasonal home tasks (put up Christmas tree, take down holiday lighting)
- Run errands (pick up prescriptions, meals, groceries, packages from UPS)
- Accompany to appointments and activities (doctors, market, walks)
- Researching needed resources & service providers (lawn care, contractors, tax preparers, auto service, moving company)
- Sewing & mending
- Home check while away (outside and/or inside)
- Vetted vendor referrals
- Additional non-medical support during recovery (not normally provided by volunteers)
- Cooking
- Assistance with laundry
ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT:
- Provider vetting
- Data entry
- Communications, outreach and marketing
- Answering phones
- Envelope stuffing
- Processing member service requests
- Accounts payable/receivable
- IT technical
UpRiver Village will not be able to guarantee that a volunteer is available for a requested task on a specific day and time needed.
UPRIVER VILLAGE WILL NOT PROVIDE:
- Any type of direct care typically provided by a home health or nursing agency.
- Financial advice
- Regular recurring services (weekly housecleaning, weekly lawn mowing, weekly grocery shopping)
Volunteers Needed
UpRiver Village is currently looking for five KEY VOLUNTEERS to help with organizational development and infrastructure creation. The timeline for launching (i.e. being able to fill service requests from our senior members) depends entirely on the ability to recruit volunteers for the following key roles:
The Steering Council Secretary will attend Steering Council meetings, record minutes and post these to the Villages NW Google Workspace. They will participate in organizational and operational decision-making to build this new not-for-profit organization.
The Communications Assistant will work with others to inform potential volunteers, members and the public about and promote UpRiver Village in print (develop website content, newsletters, a brochure, social media posts, etc.)
The Outreach Assistant will work with others to develop lists of individuals and organizations with missions and interests that align with UpRiver Village, and will reach out to these people and organizations to schedule presentations, discussions or tabling opportunities.
The Volunteer Management Assistant will work with others to recruit, manage, recognize and retain administrative volunteers and volunteers who will provide direct services to seniors.
The Events Management Assistant will work with others to organize, plan and put on social, recreational, educational and cultural events for UpRiver Village members and members of the public.
