Troutdale, OREGON – [May 28, 2025] – UpRiver Village, a grassroots, volunteer-powered organization operating under the not-for-profit umbrella of Villages NW (now over ten years running), is proud to announce the launch of a new neighborhood-based volunteer program designed to support older adults in Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, and Wood Village. Our new Village officially kicks off with a community launch party on July 1, 2025, in Gresham, at Main City Park.
The Program
This volunteer-driven initiative aims to help local seniors remain living safely and independently in their homes for as long as possible. Fully vetted volunteers will assist with tasks such as grocery shopping, light home chores, transportation to appointments, and friendly check-ins—offering not just help, but connection and care.
“Our mission is to build stronger, more connected neighborhoods where older adults are valued and supported,” said Jane Foreman, Steering Council Chair. “This program invites neighbors to show up for one another in simple, meaningful ways.”
UpRiver Village joins ten other Villages across NW Oregon and SW Washington affiliated with Villages NW, all sharing a vision of aging in place with dignity and community.

Activities: Meet & greet, ribbon cutting and remarks from local leaders, membership giveaway, video interviews, volunteer sign-ups, snacks and drinks, celebratory carrot cake (with cream cheese frosting)
