Welcome to Summer Reading!
What is the Summer Reading program?
The library’s annual Summer Reading program encourages kids to keep reading over the summer. There’s a reading game and a wide array of free events, incentives and fun activities for children and families. Last year we reached over 67,300 students in Multnomah County!
Students can play online!
If students want to track their reading online, we have a mobile site where they can register, track reading, and find other activities. They can visit multcolib.beanstack.org to get started.
Summer Reading Started June 16!
This year, all students at our school will receive a Multnomah County Library Summer Reading gameboard before summer vacation begins. Students mark the days they read, are read to or listen to audiobooks. They can earn books, T-shirts, and other great prizes like local event tickets. Reading over the summer—even just 15 minutes a day!—can help students start in the fall ready to learn, and build reading skills. Summer Reading is free at all Multnomah County Libraries!
Youth who finish the game are also entered into a drawing for the following prizes:
- High School Grand Prize: IPad Technology package with a student membership to MetroEast Community Media.
- High School Runner-up Prize: Bowling for 8 at SuperPlay - superplayor.com.
- Kindergarten - 8th Grade Grand Prize: IPad Technology package.
- Kindergarten - 8th Grade 1st Runner-up: A birthday party package at Oaks Amusement Park skating rink - oakspark.com.
- Kindergarten - 8th Grade 2nd Runner-up: $150 gift card. Made possible by The Library Foundation.
- Babies - preschool Grand Prize: A birthday party package at The Happy Place at Hammer + Jacks
- Babies - preschool Runner-up: $150 prepaid gift card.
