As most know, the Donald L Robertson City Park restroom is nearly 20 years old and is no longer the optimal facility for the park. This last Spring the City had high hopes of awarding the project after the first bid opening, but, unfortunately, the results were well over the budgeted amount. At the time, staff and Council felt it best to wait until Fall to have a second bid process. After the second bid opening, the City awarded the project to 2KG Contractors, Inc., and the project is scheduled to start mid-January 2025 with a completion goal in May 2025.
During this time, the upper parking lot will be closed to public parking to serve as a staging area for the contractors. The playground will continue to be open to the public throughout the process, and the covered picnic shelter is anticipated to stay open for reservations. As always, restrooms are available inside City Hall during regular business hours. The City believes this improvement will have a positive impact on our community, providing a safe, clean and inclusive experience for our park guests.
