The City of Portland is seeking community members to apply for a volunteer, non‑paid position serving as a Community Representative on the Bureau of Emergency Communications (BOEC) User Board.
BOEC operates the region’s 9‑1‑1 and non‑emergency call center for Portland and Multnomah County. The User Board brings together government partners, first responder agencies, and community representatives to provide guidance on public safety topics related to emergency communications, including call answering times, budget decisions, and service improvements.Community representatives play a vital role by bringing lived experience and community perspective to discussions that shape how 9‑1‑1 services are delivered. Board members advise City leadership and the BOEC Director on policies, programs, and community engagement efforts.
Eligibility: Applicants must reside in Multnomah County. Community representative seats are designated by geographic area: West Portland, East Portland, and East Multnomah County.This is a unique opportunity to help strengthen public safety systems and ensure community voices are reflected in emergency communications decisions.
