Annual Hydrant Flushing

Starting this week, the Public Works team will perform annual hydrant flushing in the upper and lower systems across the city.

Hydrant Flushing Schedule

Starting week of May 26th: Flushing will begin for properties south of NE Shannon St and around the Town Center

Starting week of June 1st: Flushing will begin for properties north of NE Shannon St

Why is Hydrant Flushing Necessary?

Hydrant flushing is necessary to:

  • Ensure adequate flow and pressure is available
  • Remove sediment from the pipes
  • Maintain water clarity
  • Maintain quality in the distribution pipes

The City maintains over 120 public fire hydrants.
