Starting this week, the Public Works team will perform annual hydrant flushing in the upper and lower systems across the city.
Hydrant Flushing Schedule
Starting week of May 26th: Flushing will begin for properties south of NE Shannon St and around the Town Center
Starting week of June 1st: Flushing will begin for properties north of NE Shannon St
Why is Hydrant Flushing Necessary?
Hydrant flushing is necessary to:
- Ensure adequate flow and pressure is available
- Remove sediment from the pipes
- Maintain water clarity
- Maintain quality in the distribution pipes
The City maintains over 120 public fire hydrants.
