For the fifth year, the City of Wood Village is offering a free holiday meal for Wood Village community members. In 2020, the City of Wood Village hosted its first Turkey Drive to address food insecurity in our community during the pandemic. Seeing the need to continue post-pandemic, the event has become an annual program to provide a free holiday meal to families in Wood Village and, when possible, the greater East County region. This year's meal will include a turkey and a grocery gift card and will be distributed at the Wood Village Baptist Church on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
Registration for this year's Turkey Drive opens online at 8:00 AM on Monday, October 14, 2024 with Wood Village community members receiving first priority. Those not living in Wood Village may still apply but will be placed on a waitlist. City staff will contact all applicants to confirm registration after the application period has closed. For those receiving a meal, the City will also call, text, or email at least one week before the pick up date as a reminder.
