Hands-Only CPR Training

About the training

Over the past several years, the City has engaged with community members to better understand local needs related to fire and emergency services. A key theme we heard was a strong interest in learning practical, hands‑on skills to help friends, family, and neighbors during an emergency. In response, the City is offering free hands‑only CPR trainings at this year’s City Nite Out on Friday, July 17, 2026.

Offered in partnership with the Gresham Fire Department, Gresham Emergency Management, and the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management, these trainings provide an opportunity to learn lifesaving skills from certified instructors (see disclaimer below). Community members may choose between two sessions: one led in Spanish and one led in English. Both sessions will include bilingual English‑Spanish support and direct interaction with emergency personnel to help participants build confidence, learn key emergency vocabulary, and understand how to respond in real‑life situations.

Disclaimer: Participants will not receive CPR certification as part of this training.
