Cooling Centers Available 7/29 to 7/30

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Thursday, July 29th to Saturday, July 31st. Cooling centers will be available throughout the county.

Cooling centers will be available at the following locations (pets welcome):

  • Fairview-Columbia Library
    Friday, July 29 to July 30
    Open Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Gresham Library
    Friday, July 29 to July 30
    Open Thursday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    Address: 385 NW Miller Avenue, Gresham
  • Multnomah County East Building
    Friday, July 29 to July 30
    Open 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    Address: 600 NE 8th St., Gresham
  • Sunrise Center
    Friday, July 29 to July 30
    Open 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    Address: 18901 East Burnside Street, Portland

Anyone who needs transportation support should dial 211, and updated information will be available at Multnomah County website.

An excessive heat watch will be in effect through Saturday. Make sure to bring extra water, and if you see someone who looks disoriented or confused. Those can be signs of them experiencing heatstroke. Offer to help them move to a cooler space and call 9-1-1. If you have pets or livestock, keep them in the shade/cooler spaces with access to plenty of water and set up a sprinkler during the hottest hours, if possible. Should there be an animal in a car, Multnomah County Animal Services recommends contacting Dispatch at (503) 988-7387, Animal Control Officers, or Municipal Police Departments.
