City Council Application

Councilor Brian Loy served on the Council since May of 2019 and has resigned to attend to personal matters and made a difficult decision to step down from the City Council. The energy and enthusiasm Councilor Loy brought will be greatly missed.

The City Council will appoint a replacement to finish the second year of Councilor Loy’s term until December 31, 2022, and the position will be up for election in November for the remainder of the next two years of the term.  Individuals interested in applying for the position can submit a volunteer application to City Hall by 4 p.m. on April 1st. Candidates must be an eligible voter and have lived within the City for at least one year as of April 14th.  Applications are available at City Hall and on our webpage.

Councilors serve on a volunteer basis without pay.  The City Council is responsible for setting policies for the entire City.  In addition to policymaking, the Council also sets and approves the yearly work plan, special programs and events, and the annual City budget.  Council members work closely with the Parks and Planning Commissions and the other area cities.  The City Council generally meets twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesday.  Council will review and appoint a person at their meeting on April 14th. Help make a difference in the community and apply for this wonderful opportunity with our City!

The application period is now closed. The Council will review applications and appoint a new Council member at the April 25, 2023 meeting.
