Description of Event
Annual Catch Basin Cleaning Program
Beginning next week, City crews will start cleaning catch basins throughout Wood Village. Catch basins, also known as storm drains, collect rainwater from streets and direct it into the stormwater system, helping reduce localized flooding during storms.
Over time, leaves, sediment, litter, and other debris can accumulate inside catch basins, restricting water flow and reducing the effectiveness of the stormwater system. Routine cleaning helps keep stormwater moving, reduces flooding concerns, and helps prevent pollutants from reaching local waterways.
Community members can help protect water quality by:
- Keeping leaves and yard debris out of streets and gutters
- Sweeping grass clippings back onto lawns
- Properly disposing of litter and pet waste
- Reporting blocked or damaged storm drains to the City
To help our Public Works crew, please move vehicles, waste carts, and other items away from drains or off the street. Thank you for helping!
